Katerina N. Liapis joined Reveliotis Law, P.C. in June 2012. With more than ten years of management and legal experience, Katerina supervises the filing of all tax appeals for businesses and professional entities, working with virtually all types of private entities, including large retail shopping centers, gas stations, banquet halls, hotels, small start-up entities, family-owned businesses, as well as multi-unit apartment buildings.
With her extensive real estate tax experience, Katerina is an expert at navigating the appeal process and successfully advocates cases before the Cook County Assessor’s Office, Cook County Board of Review, the Property Tax Appeal Board (“PTAB”), and the Circuit Court.
Katerina has especially dedicated her practice to the areas of ad valorem commercial and industrial property tax appeals and property tax incentives. She has appeared before numerous Village and City Boards and assists clients in securing Cook County Class 6b, Class 8, and Class 7c tax incentives and renewals. She has also represented schools and religious organizations before various Counties and the Illinois Department of Revenue where she has successfully obtained exemptions from ad valorem property taxes. She also manages the firm’s Circuit Court tax objection practice.
With a Mechanical Engineering background Katerina brings her analytical skills to bear in assessing property structures for the firm in relation to their tax assessment. By employing the most recent technologies and methodologies, she has played a paramount part in developing programs and applications for the office that have eliminated human error while simultaneously diminishing the amount of time to complete an appeal by as much as 85%.
Katerina has also been certified as an Illinois Assessing Officer (“CIAO”) by the Illinois Property Assessment Institute and the Illinois Department of Revenue. Prior to joining Reveliotis Law, Katerina worked as a Mechanical Engineer in Tripolis, Greece, with a focus on environmentally friendly construction practices.
